The Institute for Responsible Online and CellPhone Communication has defined two primary types of “SextCasting”: 1) A Private SextCast: An individual purposefully performs a risqué or sexual act via a live webcam feed, video messaging app, phone, or other digital tool that is meant to be viewed privately by another individual.
Example: A couple performs a live sexual act or "SextCast" for one another via their video messaging platform (e.g. Skype or FaceTime) while separated due to a business trip.
2) A Public SextCast: An individual is purposefully performing a risque or sexual act on a live webcam feed, video messaging app, social media network or or other digital platform knowing their content is live and available [streaming] for public viewing.
Example: The couple engaged in sexual activity in front of their webcam knowing multiple individuals were watching live over a popular social webcam network.
